The new Dresden town hall is a pretty impressive complex with multiple inner courtyards on the 'Altmarkt' , Dresden's large central square. It was erected between 1905 and 1910 by Karl Roth after the old town hall had become too small for the expanding town. The 1744 Old Town Hall at the northwest side of the Altmarkt was completely destroyed during the allied bombardments of February 1945. The new town hall was also badly damaged during the same bombardments but it was rebuilt between 1948 and 1952 but the historical structure is gone forever as only the octagonal tower was rebuilt accurately. The rest exists today in a simplified form.
Life is Beautiful when you have a travel companion :)
In 2013, Caroline and I left for a 5 week trip across Europe on board the mighty Brunette road vessel together with Maurice, the travelling sunflower :p
Maurice was born in Brussels and died 5 weeks into our journey in Rozvadov after a few thousands of km ... just like so many Poker bankrolls :D
A few weeks after this road trip Brunette, the all in mobile, also left us in dramatic fashion after a pyro set it on fire in Brussels :'(
It's that time of the year again. The European Christmas Market Tour is kicking off.
Aachen last week.
Luxembourg this weekend.
Paris next week.
Namur at the end of the month.
