The art of tattooing has become astonishingly popular but it remains a form of expression that is often socially misunderstood and not always accepted as such. FIRST IMPRESSION was an attempt to show 'respectable' citizens with 'respectable' jobs alternatively wearing their daily work clothing and showing off their tattoos. No outfit was dictated to the models. They were all kindly asked to come to the shooting with clothes they had selected without showing them to us before. The only restriction was that they had to wear their normal work clothing in at least one series of picture. The outfits for the other pictures were totally up to them.
This very interesting set of pictures and interviews generated some sort of bipolar series of portraits and a pleasant exhibition at Kulturfabrik's RATELACH tea room during a few weeks.
The major part of the exhibition archive has gone with the fire that destroyed my home and office in 2010 but I have been able to recover some of the test pictures on an old drive in early 2014. Enjoy!
Life is beautiful when you're inked.
